Frequently asked questions
I can’t meditate - I’ve tried it before!
At the Therapy Practice London we teach a very easy, effortless technique - everyone can do it.
The beauty of this technique is that we don’t need to force anything, we don’t need to ‘try to not have thoughts’. So this is a different technique from Mindfulness where you need to direct your attention.
During the course you'll learn how to meditate easily and effectively. The instructions are easy to follow and the technique is really for everyone.
Why would I want to learn?
There are so many benefits to having a regular meditation practice.
If you experience one or more of the below, our meditation course is definitely for you:
Are you experiencing racing thoughts or a busy mind? Do you find it hard sometimes to make decisions? Do you sometimes respond in a more emotional way than what seems appropriate for the situation? Are you experiencing stress? Do 'easy' things seem hard somtimes? Do you struggle keeping up a regular Mindfulness practice?
If either of these resonate with you, we'd really recommend our course. Most people find some of their symptoms alleviating within days or weeks, and notice additional benefits once they keep going.
Typically, after learning, meditators report feeling calmer, less easily triggered and having a clearer mind. Some experience better sleep, experiencing more joy and more connectedness to the world. Overall, people become less stressed and feel more centred and connected to themselves.
Is this technique safe for me? I have experienced trauma in the past. This technique is really gentle so we believe it is safe to practice also if you've experienced trauma.
It is in fact a very effective way to release stress and trauma out of the nervous system, so even if you are currently receiving therapy we would thoroughly recommend taking this course as it will support your emotion regulation in the recovery of trauma.
When people have experienced trauma they might experience some strong stress release when they just learn. This can sometimes mean that they feel tired, anxious or notice other distress either during meditation or after. This is only temporary and these experiences will settle after some time (usually hours or days) of regular practice. You'll experience a greater sense of wellbeing and will feel less easily triggered.
If you've experienced trauma or extreme emotional experiences please always discuss your situation with Bibi.
